High Performance Network Storage for Film and Television
Blackmagic Cloud Store gives you high performance network storage designed for the film and television industry! Plus it understands Blackmagic Cloud media sync and supports DaVinci Resolve proxy files. This means the moment a film crew starts shooting, the camera media will sync within seconds so the post production team can start working! With an incredibly fast flash based memory core, lots of users can all work at the same time. That’s perfect for sharing large media files between editors, colorists, audio engineers and VFX artists! You can even build a broadcast replay system by connecting multiple HyperDeck recorders and DaVinci Resolve 19. There’s even a status monitor output!
Designed for Film and Television
Blackmagic Cloud Store is the perfect storage solution for film and television. It's designed to handle the large media files used in film and television where multiple editors, colorists, audio engineers and VFX artists all work on the media at the same time. It even handles massive 12K Blackmagic RAW digital film files! Each user gets zero latency and they don't need to store files on their local computer. That's perfect for DaVinci Resolve! Plus Blackmagic Cloud allows media to be synchronized to different locations globally so each location gets the fastest editing experience possible. It's also perfect for live replay with DaVinci Resolve 19!
Flash Memory Allows Multiple Simultaneous Users
Blackmagic Cloud Store models feature large parallel flash memory cores with lots of space for your media files. That’s fantastic for film and television production as you get high performance, large capacity, all in a portable design. M.2 flash memory cards are used for extreme reliability, high access speeds and zero seek times. The Max model has 12 x M.2 cards arranged in a massive parallel RAID 0 group for extreme performance. That ensures enough speed to keep up with dozens of users. Only this massive parallel memory core has enough speed for large banks of HyperDeck recorders and dozens of editing workstations, all operating at the same time!
High Performance for Digital Film Files
With a separate very high speed 10G Ethernet connection, Blackmagic Cloud Storeis very fast. The internal memory core has been designed to saturate the 10G Ethernet port to its theoretical maximum speed, even with multiple users connected. It’s so fast, most computers cannot keep up! Plus file access is very low latency, so responsiveness is fast. That’s possible because of the parallel processing used by the memory core. Even at maximum speed, the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini is extremely quiet with very little cooling fan noise. Even when editing large 12K digital film RAW files. It’s so fast, multicam editing is very smooth, even if it’s used with large digital film camera files!
Sync to Blackmagic Cloud for Global Media
Now creative teams can share a single local cache of media uploaded to the Blackmagic Cloud for a true global workflow! This makes working faster because files are distributed globally, to as many sites as you need! Blackmagic Cloud Store will constantly work to stay in perfect sync. You also save space on editing workstations because the files are downloaded to the Blackmagic Cloud Store so everyone on your network can access them. If you’re working with remote cameras, such as URSA Broadcast, URSA Cine or the Blackmagic Camera iPhone app, then these files will upload to Blackmagic Cloud and then download to the Blackmagic Cloud Store in seconds. That's also fantastic for multi site media backup!
Real Time Monitoring
The most exciting feature is the HDMI monitoring output! Simply connect a TV or computer monitor to get a live status of the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini. The storage map shows a graphic representation of the memory core and real time read and write access happening for the connected users. It’s quite mesmerizing to watch! There are also graphs that show you the data transfers on the Ethernet connections. The main space indicator shows you the capacity of the memory core and how much is currently being used. You can also add a custom name to the store! The status for each Dropbox connection is also shown. It's even possible to see connected users and the power supply status.
High Performance 10G Ethernet
The Blackmagic Cloud Stores have a high speed 10G Ethernet port, which is only found on expensive workstation computers. With 10G Ethernet, you get 10 times the speed of regular Ethernet. Plus most computers can be upgraded to add 10G Ethernet! The Blackmagic Cloud Stores are so fast, it will run the 10G Ethernet port to its maximum capacity. Even when connected to an Ethernet switch with dozens of users accessing files at the same time. The Ethernet also features very low latency for fast access times. That’s similar performance to expensive business SANs but in a low cost design that you can install yourself!
Even Faster 100G Ethernet!
The Blackmagic Cloud Store Max model includes 100G Ethernet for adding more connections! Simply connect a Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P to the 100G Ethernet to get 16 extra 10G Ethernet connections. This means you can add lots of HyperDeck Studio ISO recorders, with each recorder connected to the switch. Each HyperDeck recording is then combined in the switch and sent to the Blackmagic Cloud Store Max via the 100G Ethernet connection. This high speed 100G connection lets you work in professional codecs such as ProRes and DNx. You can also build large creative workgroups with lots of edit workstations! The 100G connection can be used with copper or optical fiber cables.
Connect via USB-C for Quick File Access
Modern laptop computers are so thin, they often don’t even have an Ethernet connection! That means you need an adapter to connect to an Ethernet network. These adapters are annoying and make it harder to just plug your computer into the storage to access a file. Blackmagic Cloud Store models have a USB-C to Ethernet adapter built in and you can access it simply by plugging your computer into the USB-C port on the store. Plus USB-C cables are much nicer than stiff Ethernet cables! Once you have connected the Cloud Store’s USB-C connection to your computer, you have an Ethernet connection direct to the storage! That means you can just plug in to quickly grab files when you need them urgently!
Free Software for Mac and Windows
When you need to change settings, you can use the Blackmagic Cloud Store utility that's available on Mac and Windows. By default, the Blackmagic Cloud Store is set to DHCP, so you can connect it to your network and start transferring files. In many ways, it plugs in just like a regular hard disk. That means it's so easy to setup, you won't need an IT person to get started! However if you want to customize your network, then the utility software lets you change the network settings in the cloud store. The utility also lets you add Dropbox sync folders.
